Controlling eye movement

Would love to have a couple of lessons on how to control eye movement through a photograph using composition and post processing techniques. I seem to recall some hierarchy of elements the eye is generally drawn to – contrast, color, sharpness, ??? I would imagine there are differences between a landscape and a photo with faces.
