Noise Reduction

This lesson covers techniques for reducing noise using Lightroom, Camera Raw and Photoshop. We’ll go over what causes noise in the first place, how to avoid it when shooting and then how to reduce it in post-processing. I’ll also discuss how the process can be automated and when you might want to use tools other than Photoshop & Lightroom. In the process we’ll also get into selective noise reduction and capturing multiple shots of the same scene and then merging them together to further reduce noise.

Note: The practice images for this lesson have been compressed into a .zip file. You’ll need to double-click on the file after download before being able to use the images in Photoshop or Lightroom. Also, I did not include practice images for the multi-shot noise reduction technique because the files took up hundreds of megabytes of space and our system is limited to 100MB per download.
