Blending Modes
Lesson 1.
Blending Modes affect how the active layer interacts with the underlying image. You can have it act like ink, darkening the underlying image, or the exact opposite, which would be acting like light, which can only brighten the image. There are dozens of blending modes available. In this video we’ll cover Normal, Dissolve, Darken, Multiply, Color Burn, Linear Burn, Darker Color, Lighten, Screen, Color Dodge, Linear Dodge, & Linear Color.
I also try to give you multiple examples of how each mode was used in a project.
Lesson 2.
This lesson shows how to use blending modes such as Hard Light, Linear Light, Overlay, Soft Light, Hard Mix, Pin Light, Difference, Exclusion, Subtract, Hue, Color, Saturation and Luminosity.
Note: The practice images for these lessons have been compressed into a .zip archive. You’ll need to double-click on the file after downloading before you’ll be able to use the images in Photoshop.
