Understanding the HSB/HSL Filter
25 years ago, Photoshop was capable of converting images to either Hue/Saturation/Brightness or Hue/Saturation/Luminosity mode, which allowed you to perform adjustments and make selections based on how colorful the image appears or what base color was found in each area of the image. In this lesson you will learn how to install and use a special filter that brings back the functionality that has been lacking for decades and apply it to an image. In the process, you’ll learn how to adjust the saturation of your image with more control than the Vibrance adjustment and see why the full-color view of the image is not always useful. Selections based on the basic color of an image are technically known as Hue Masks and selections based on how color an image appears is known as a Saturation Mask.
