Frequency Separation: Stain Removal

In this lesson, I’ll show you how to remove a stain on clothing using Frequency Separation. We’ll start by apply an action that separates the image into two layers, one containing the fine details (also known as high frequency) and the other containing the basic colors and tones (or low frequency). We’ll then be able to easily modify the low frequency layer using basic painting tools combined with the dodge tool and sponge tool. This lesson is based on the techniques described in the Frequency Separation Fundamentals lesson from a while back.

The action used in this lesson is included with the practice image in a single .zip file. To use the files, you’ll need to double-click on the file after download to extract its contents.
